Winner BENTO for 2014

La Semaine du Goûtin Japan organizes the International BENTO Contest 2015, inviting bento recipes to be submitted from all over the world and presenting awards for the best entries.

The theme of the competition this year is «Good for the Planet» featuring well balanced BENTOs that are packed with the signature dishes from countries worldwide.

Entries can be received through La Semaine du Goûtwebsite or the Facebook account of the BENTO contest (For more details, please refer to www.legout.jp).

The final selection in which 10 finalists will actually make their BENTOS in front of a panel of judges will take place on October 18th in Yokohama, Japan.

Application requirements

■Theme:
Good for the Planet and products to prepare a well balanced BENTO containing the 5 tastes (Sweet, Salty, Sour, Bitter and Umami)

■Entry period:From Monday Jun 1st to Friday September 18th, 2015
(For participants from abroad, the limit will be September 25th)

■How to participate :

The candidates must post their recipes with a picture of the BENTO and the list of ingredients used on the website www.legout.jp or the Facebook account of the BENTO contest

■Conditions regarding the BENTO preparation:

Recipes must be previously unpublished/unreleased.
Cost of ingredients: Around 500 yen (to serve one person).
Preparation time 60 minutes (including arrangement into the box).

■Entry conditions:

Culinary experts and professionals may not enter the competition.
The finalists must be able to take part in the final cook-off to be held in Yokohama, on October 18th. (For those coming from overseas, air-fare and two nights accommodation -for one person-will be provided by the secretariat).
The heating source of the kitchen must be gas.

■Prizes:

•Prizes will be rewarded to the winner, runner-up and the 3rd place
•1st place, 2nd place and 3rd place : To be rewarded by Sponsored
•PRESIDENT Special Prize:
Candidates who will skillfully use a "PRESIDENT" cheese product (such as Camembert or Fresh cheese "Rondele" to name a few) for their BENTO recipe, will be eligible to receive the "PRESIDENT Special Prize"
("PRESIDENT Special Prize" is intended for all PRESIDENT cheese product)

■Judging procedure:

After the deliberation stage (online application screening), the 10 short-listed finalists will be contacted by the secretariat to participate in the final cook-off on October 18th in Yokohama, Japan.
10 finalists will have to prepare their BENTO in front of a Jury to decide the winner of the international BENTO contest
From the 10 finalists, will be determined the winner, the runner-up and third place.
